There are no official sellers. Never accept a device with software already on it. You flash and verify it yourself (guide, steps 5–7). Buying parts from general electronics shops keeps your purchase more private.
How the check works: one plain request per shop page, robots.txt respected, nothing stored about you. It reads the shop's own stock data where there is some, otherwise words like "sold out" or an add-to-cart button. Shops that block scripts show unknown.
