Step 1 of 10
Step 01/ 10

Is it for you?

Good for:

  • Mobile data in 190+ countries without showing a passport.
  • A second number for SMS codes you don’t want tied to you.
  • Paying for connectivity in sats.

Not for:

  • Calls. The eSIM is data only.
  • Your bank. Use your own number there.
  • Living in one country long term. Plans last up to 30 days.
Step 02/ 10

Costs

eSIM plans:

  • From 0.99 USD for a small plan.
  • A few GB for a month is often 4–9 USD. It depends on the country.
  • Regional plans cover many countries at once.

Phone numbers:

  • Disposable: about 1.50 USD for one code. Valid 20 minutes. No code, money back.
  • Rental UK number: 7 USD a month or 12 USD for 3 months.

Pay with Lightning and eSIMs are 5% cheaper.

Step 03/ 10

Check your phone

  1. Your phone must be unlocked. Locked to a carrier, the eSIM won’t install.
  2. iPhone: Settings → General → About. Look for Digital SIM or EID.
  3. Android: dial *#06#. If you see an EID, you have eSIM.

eSIM A SIM card built into the phone. You download it instead of inserting it.

Step 04/ 10

Buy the eSIM

  1. Go to nadanada.me → eSIM. Type the address yourself, or use the link below.
  2. Pick your country or region and a plan. A few GB for 30 days is a good start.
  3. Choose Lightning.
  4. Scan the invoice with your wallet and pay.
  5. The page shows a QR code and your eSIM profile page. Save that page link now.

No account, no email, no ID. The profile link is your login. Lose it and you lose top-ups.

Step 05/ 10

Install it

Do this on Wi-Fi. You can install before you fly. Data starts when you arrive.

  1. iPhone: Settings → Mobile Data → Add eSIM → scan the QR.
  2. Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add eSIM → scan the QR.
  3. Turn on Data roaming for the new eSIM. This is normal.
  4. Set it as the line for mobile data.
  5. No data? Set the APN to data.esim.

APN The setting that tells your phone how to reach the carrier’s internet.

Step 06/ 10

Get a number for SMS

Two kinds:

  1. Disposable: go to Phone numbers, pick the country and the service. Pay. The code shows on screen within 20 minutes.
  2. Rental: pick a rental number and pay. You get a dashboard link. Bookmark it. It is your only key.

Rental numbers are UK numbers. They receive SMS only. No calls, no sending.

Big apps often block these numbers. Google, Telegram and others can refuse them, or ban the account later. Use them for small sign-ups. Never for anything you can’t lose.

Step 07/ 10

What it still shows

  • The local network: your phone joins it as a roaming phone. It sees the SIM ID (IMSI), the phone ID (IMEI) and roughly where you are.
  • The wholesaler: nadanada resells eSIMs. The wholesale carrier sees the same SIM ID and your data use.
  • Your IP: traffic exits in the UK, US or Singapore. Websites see that IP, not a local one.
  • nadanada: keeps your eSIM ID, plans bought and dates, by its own policy.

The eSIM skips the ID check. It does not hide where the phone is. Same phone, same IMEI, same habits: you can still be linked.

IMEI The serial number of your phone. It travels with every SIM you put in it.

Step 08/ 10

With GrapheneOS

  1. Settings → Network & internet → eSIM support. Turn it on.
  2. No Google Play needed.
  3. Add the eSIM by scanning the QR.
  4. Stuck on “Checking network info”? Dial *#*#4636#*#* and turn on DSDS.
  5. Set an eSIM PIN? Leave eSIM support on, so you can’t lock yourself out.

Want a clean start? A new phone is a new IMEI. Install the eSIM on it from day one.

Step 09/ 10

Top up and renew

  1. Open your saved eSIM profile link.
  2. Add a new bundle. Pay with Lightning.
  3. It starts when the old one runs out, or when you arrive.
  4. For a rental number, renew from the dashboard before it expires. Expired means gone.
Step 10/ 10

Stay tidy

  1. Keep the order, profile and dashboard links in your password manager.
  2. Anyone with your eSIM ID can check its usage. Don’t post the QR or the ID.
  3. Don’t pay by card if you want no name on it. Card checkout goes through Stripe.
  4. Their site has a Tor address. On Tor, only Lightning works.

Pay in sats? Hold the rest yourself. Set up a SeedSigner with Sparrow.
