# SeedSigner or Coldcard?

> SeedSigner: you build it from cheap parts, it stores nothing and forgets your keys at power-off. Coldcard: a ready-made device that stores your seed on two secure chips from different makers.

## Steps

1. Pick SeedSigner if you want to build and verify it yourself and keep nothing on the device.
2. Pick SeedSigner if your budget is tight. Parts are cheap and on the shelf.
3. Pick Coldcard if you want to unplug a box and go, and you’re fine with a device that stores your seed.
4. Either way: make the seed with dice, back it up on steel, test before you fund.

## FAQ

**Is a stateless signer safe?**
It’s the point. No keys stored means nothing to pull off a stolen device. You type your words each time.

**Do both work with Sparrow?**
Yes. SeedSigner talks by QR. Coldcard works air-gapped by microSD. The Coldcard Q also scans QR. The Mk4 has no camera.

**Can I use both?**
Yes. Mixing brands is a smart way to build a 2-of-3 multisig.
